Rent Ebooks

Don’t they have like an online library where you can like rent ebooks or movies for free and return them?
I thought I had heard of something like this before Ive looked on the internet but all I find is like libraries with old old books. isnt there a place where you can get new ebooks and return them when your done?
you can’t return something electronically since they can be saved.
it’s also pointless to provide an electronic copy of a book and restrict it to one user only. you’re using electronic data so it can be easily distributed to plenty of people.
the reason you see old old books is because of the copyright law. you can only distribute copies of books if their copyright has expired. In most of the world the default length of copyright for many works is either life of the author plus 50 or 70 years.
