Can A Kindle 3′s battery be overcharged?
I was charging My Kindle 3 for the first time last night at 11pm. I fell asleep and wasn’t awake three hours later to check if the light turned green (means fully charged). Woke up at 7am and quickly switched off the charger. Can a Kindle be overcharged and will it have any implications on my new device? I should set the alarm clock next time!
Your Kindle has a Lithium ion battery. It won’t accept a trickle charge or over charge like a nickel battery. Yank it off the charger as soon as you can after its done. A long over charge time will cause damage to the battery but not the device. Good thing about lithium ion though is that you can throw it on the charger even when it has half of a charge left. Other types of batterys need to be ran dead and only then you can begin charging again.
